2022 Year in Review
2022 was a year where we took our first major step out of the pandemic, cautiously balancing vigilance for the health and wellness of our community members while supporting folks’ eagerness to return to pre-pandemic normality.
Workshops & residencies
In 2022, soFly Social hosted a diverse array of talented pole dancers who bring their own expertise to share with the local Austin community, including:
Team Survivor partnership
We partnered with Team Survivor, a non-profit organization that helps female identifying and nonbinary cancer survivors regain normal lives during and after cancer treatment.
We dedicated a Level 1 pole class every week exclusively for survivors to regain control of their bodies, their health, and their lives.
Student showcases
We continued to provide our students with performance opportunities to share their craft with the greater public audience. We partnered with one of our favorite local long standing alternative venues Elysium, and then with Ground Floor Theatre, a space dedicated to elevating works produced by historically under represented communities.
Death at the Cabaret
We elevated the theatrical experience for aerial productions in Austin with a completely original cabaret-infused murder mystery play featuring pole dancing and burlesque.
Looking ahead to 2023
Looking ahead, we welcome 2023 with the excitement of opening our third studio, merging our two current studios into a single space. With over 4000sq ft, we are expanding our class offerings to include aerial apparatuses such as lyra, silks, straps, and flying pole as well as more ground based classes in cross training and burlesque.
